Welcome Message

We are pleased to announce that the CIGRE A3 & B3 Joint Colloquium 2027 will be held in Tokyo, Japan, from 25 to 29 October 2027.

This Colloquium will take place under the overarching theme:
"Resilient and Sustainable Substations and T&D Equipment for the Energy Transition."

The global energy transition requires power systems to become more resilient, more sustainable, and more intelligent. In this context, substations and transmission & distribution equipment face growing expectations for enhanced robustness against natural disasters, deployment of eco-friendly technologies, and adoption of digital intelligence to improve asset management. This Colloquium aims to provide a platform for experts worldwide to share knowledge, experiences, and innovative solutions aligned with these urgent challenges.

Accordingly, we have defined the following three Preferential Subjects (PS):
PS1: Enhancing resilience of substations and T&D equipment under extreme environmental and natural disaster conditions
PS2: Practical deployment and operating experiences of sustainable technologies and environmentally compatible solutions for Net Zero
PS3: Digital intelligence for asset management and knowledge transfer in substations and equipment

The Colloquium will adopt a presentation-based format, encouraging interactive discussions among participants. Instead of full papers, authors will submit short synopses for review, with an emphasis on results, practical experiences, and forward-looking insights. This format is intended to broaden participation, particularly welcoming young engineers and students.

Throughout the event week, the program will feature tutorials, technical sessions, study committee meetings, and networking events, culminating in a rich exchange of perspectives within the global CIGRE community. At the end of the event week, we will provide the Technical Tour to the Shin-Toyosu Substation, the world’s first underground 500 kV substation with its compact GIS configuration and innovative cylindrical underground structure, which has contributed to Tokyo’s stable power supply and urban resilience since 2000.

We sincerely look forward to welcoming you in Tokyo, where tradition meets innovation.
Your participation will help advance the development of resilient and sustainable power systems worldwide.

Yours faithfully
